Cheese Filled Kolache
Kolache are a bit of a cross between a donut dough and a danish. They are Czech in origin. Kola meaning wheels or rounds and are incredibly popular in Texas. There are whole shops devoted to them. But, if you ask anyone here in New England they have never heard of them. These were made from the recipe in Bread Illustrated by our friends at the American Test Kitchen. Because it is in a book still in print, I feel it would not be a good idea to share it online. These are my first Kolache and are quite good. I expect to easily turn my New England friends in their direction.
