Wandering Wednesday – Rome – Baths of Caracalla
Finished and open in 217AD, The Baths of Caracalla were open to the public and free of charge until 600 AD when the Ostrogoths destroyed the water supply. In addition to the usual bathing facilities, there was a library, gymnasium, art galleries, gardens, and restaurants. The complex is on a huge scale and can make you feel quite tiny in perspective. It must have been an awesome sight in it’s day.
I hope you’ve enjoyed our wandering Wednesday. :)
I enjoyed the tour! Awesome structure.
